Kayaking is one of the best ways to explore Siesta Key because it lets you experience the island’s natural beauty up close and at your own pace. Paddling through calm, clear waters, you can discover mangrove tunnels, spot dolphins and manatees, and explore hidden beaches only accessible by water. However, some people find the idea of exploring the waterways on their own a little intimidating. That’s completely understandable—and exactly why a guided kayak tour is the perfect way to experience the natural beauty of Sarasota and Siesta Key. When you join a tour led by a professional guide, you can relax, paddle at your own pace, and enjoy the scenery, knowing that safety, navigation, and local knowledge are all taken care of.
The certified kayak guides at Ride and Paddle are trained by the American Canoe Association. They provide insight into the area’s ecology, history, and wildlife – turning each excursion into a truly memorable experience. No matter your skill level, Ride and Paddle tours are designed to be enjoyable and accessible.
A Paddle Through Paradise
Our guided kayak tours launch from Turtle Beach Public Boat Ramp. From there, we paddle out through Blind Pass Lagoon to the Jim Neville Marine Preserve, a beautiful mangrove island teeming with birdlife, fish, and other marine creatures.
This leisurely adventure takes you through calm waters surrounded by lush mangroves—a peaceful escape from the bustle of the mainland. As we circle the island, your guide will point out local wildlife and share stories about the region’s natural and cultural history.
About halfway through the trip, we stop at the secluded Midnight Pass Beach, where you can stretch your legs, take a swim, collect shells, or simply enjoy the views. After some time on the beach, we paddle back to the boat launch, completing a two-and-a-half-hour excursion that leaves you refreshed and inspired.
Who Can Join the Tour
Our kayak tours are open to everyone—there’s no strict minimum age requirement. However, participants should be able to meet the health and mobility specifications listed on our website, follow instructions, and safely enter and exit a kayak. If you’re joining with children, parents or guardians will need to sign a waiver on their behalf.
To make the most of your experience, come prepared for a day on the water. We recommend bringing plenty of water or drinks, sunscreen, water shoes, a towel, and a bathing suit. A hat, sunglasses, or a small camera can help capture the memories. While we don’t provide storage on land, dry bags are available so you can bring essentials along with you—just note that they’re not completely watertight.
Plan Your Guided Kayak Adventure with Ride and Paddle
Guided kayak tours at Ride and Paddle require a minimum of four participants. If your group is smaller, you’re welcome to book the equivalent of four spots to secure a private or semi-private outing. We handle all kayak delivery and setup, so all you need to do is book your reservation, sign a waiver, and get ready to float into one of Sarasota’s most serene natural settings.
If kayaking isn’t your idea of adventure, why not rent a couple of bicycles or try one of our fun scooters? Whatever you think a perfect vacation entails, Ride and Paddle will rent you the equipment you need to bring it to life. From umbrellas to kayaks and snorkeling gear – don’t visit Siesta Key without calling us first!
