Our Mission   

Our mission is to help people enjoy time outside with their people.  Whether it is time on one of our bikes or on a kayak tour, we want the best part of their vacation to be the time they spent together using our gear.  To make sure they have a good time, we spend a lot of time making sure the gear is in great shape.  We care about providing exceptionally friendly customer service.  We work as a team to make the rental process efficient and enjoyable.  We take the time to smile, even when we don’t feel like it.   

ThE FEEDBACK LOOP

We give feedback.  Both when you do well and when you fall short.  We ask that you come with the mindset to accept feedback and grow.  We are constantly thinking about what we do and how we can do it better.  Feedback will be a normal part of your day, but not something to dwell upon.  The only way to get better is to examine mistakes and learn from them. 

Think of the professional football players that come to the sideline and immediately watch the tape.  They are evaluating their performance to learn from what happened on the field.  They take responsibility, but they don’t beat themselves up about it.  They don’t dwell on it.  They learn.  They grow.  They are on to the next play.  We will push you to do the same. 

We understand you will be doing the best you can until you know better.  It is our job to help you know better.  We will do our best to give you honest feedback with a respectful delivery.  We also invite you to let us know if you need a short break from the feedback loop.  We also invite feedback on how we are giving you feedback. 

The training process can be long and at times frustrating.  There are a lot of details.  Not only do you have to learn what to do, but you also have to develop the skill to do it well and our trust that you will do it even when no one is watching. 

Some people are accustom to receiving and acting on feedback.  Others are not.  If you are not open to receiving this sort of coaching, we ask that you let us know now that this job is not a good fit.

We understand that none of us are perfect.  We all have different strengths and shortcomings.  Sometimes we all have a bad day.  We will do our best to play to your strengths, but ask that you do the best you know how.  If you’re sore from a workout and simply can’t lift a boat today, tell us.  If you’re in a bad mood and shouldn’t be interacting with customers that day, tell us.  We will do our best to shift assignments for the day.
